A service of Outreach Ministry to equip and send forth disciples of Jesus Christ as compassionate servants to globally meet the physical and spiritual needs of others.

(Unless otherwise noted, all classes are held at West Market Street United Methodist Church)

 Introduction

Outreach Ministry Team at WMS is growing and continuing to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ everyday. As we strive to nurture and send forth disciples of Jesus Christ, it is important that we properly equip all congregation members for both local and global service.

The Missioners School is one way for congregation members and other Methodists in the Greensboro District to prepare and equip to participate in different types of mission.

Courses are offered throughout the year and taught by leaders who have experience building structures, relationships and volunteerism. The nature of each course determines if it is a one day seminar, a regular weekly session, or a hands-on learning experience. Some courses have a nominal fee which is indicated in the description.

For further information, contact Elizabeth Montgomery at 275-4587, ext. 16 or at emontgomery@wmsumc.org.

 Equipping for Ministries in 2009

WE! Winter Emergency Shelter & HOPE Teams

WMS is providing shelter for 15 homeless men this winter. Our guest speaker on Feb. 4 , Terri Morgan, will help us explore issues of chronic homelessness so that we can be better support and be friends to the homeless in Greensboro.

Washington Elementary School Summer Enrichment Program

This summer, WMS plans to host a free one-week summer day camp for Washington Elementary School (WES) students. The camp will target children in grades K-2 , and will focus on boosting reading skills and cultural enrichment opportunities such as music, art, drama, and dance. Volunteers will be needed to read with the children, help with activities, and shepherd them to different activities. If you would like to be involved in this exciting new ministry, consider taking “Mission Work with Children through L.O.V.E. on Sunday, June 7. This class will be led by Dr. Patricia Spicer with years of experience working with children in the classroom and on missions. Whether you plan to help with the WES program, VBS, or work with children on a mission trip, you can certainly benefit from this learning opportunity.
