Ministry & Service

Wednesday Night Supper and Activities

Join our church family on Wednesday evenings (September thru March) for dinner, fellowship, and a variety of opportunities for study, sharing, and fun.

Mission / Outreach

We have a vital outreach ministry at West Market...to equip and send forth disciples of Jesus Christ beyond the walls of this church as compassionate servants, responding with Christian love to the needs of others in our community and our world.

Children's Ministry Spiritual formation for children is emphasized in many ways. Children learn about expressing God’s love through service to others with hands-on mission projects; they hear Bible stories presented in creative ways sure to capture their attention; they realize the importance of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as the Bible is made relevant to their lives today.

Mission Possible Kids

Youth Ministry

Youth need a safe place where they can experience community and close friendship, and a place where they can ask questions and ponder the meaning of life and God. At West Market Street Church, we strive to do Youth Ministry in the depths, providing opportunities to ask questions about what it means to be a Christian, how to be a Disciple and why believe in God. By providing space for students to ask these questions, we encourage them to grow and deepen their faith.

Adult Ministry

West Market Street United Methodist Church seeks to offer persons opportunities to grow as Christian disciples by providing resources and support to Christian education programs of the church such as Sunday School and Wonderful West Market Wednesdays, by developing and supporting small group ministries, and by offering spiritual enrichment opportunities through prayer and retreat ministry.

Older Adult Ministry

Our Older Adult Ministry offers opportunities for worship, learning, fellowship, faith sharing and service that help older adults relate to God, continue to grow in their faith and be actively involved in the life of the church. The United Methodist Church considers all persons age 55 and older as older adults.

United Methodist Women

We have an active unit of United Methodist Women at West Market Street United Methodist Church. We are women organized for mission, and we are involved in mission both locally and globally. We invite ALL women of the church to join us!

Prayer Opportunities

West Market Street United Methodist Church offers a variety of prayer ministries, some of which are ongoing, while others are event-specific. We hope you will keep your promise to the Church by participating in these meaningful prayer opportunities. New participants are always welcome.

Congregational Care

Ministers and specially trained lay people are always on hand to help members with their personal faith journeys, joys, sorrows, quests and growth. Our congregational care team is divided up into smaller groups which respond to a variety of needs.

Care 4 Creation

The purpose of the Care4Creation Ministry Team is to develop a greater awareness of the calling and responsibility of all Christians to care for God's creation. Our goal is that through education and institutional consumption and practices, we may offer strategies and opportunities for the West Market Street United Methodist Church family to positively affect our human impact on the environment.

Technology and Media Ministry Members of the Technology and Media Ministry Team serve in all areas involving using technology and media to further the work of WMSUMC.  They maintain the web page, run sound and video for worship services and special events, help maintain the church's IT network, and much more.
