20/30 W. Market St.

Did you know that John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement, brewed his own beer? He also wrote a letter to the King of England complaining about the heavy use of hops in his good ol’ English pint; he wasn’t into bitter brew. What Wesley was into, of course, was much more important than the brewing process; he was interested in being in the places where people gathered, whether the square, the fields, or the pub.

This Fall marks the launch of our new 20s and 30s ministry called 20/30 W. Market St.

In November we are launching first series of The Gospel on Tap, at The Loft at Natty Greene’s Brewing Company on Elm St. The Gospel on Tap will be held each Tuesday of November beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The theme of the first series is The Gospel and Pop Music and includes:

  • Robert Brewer of Greensboro College with The Gospel According to U2 on Nov. 3rd
  • Alex Barrett with the Hagan Davis Law Firm giving The Gospel According to Johnny Cash on Nov. 10th
  • Scott Nowlan of West Market will discuss The Gospel According to the Beatles on Nov. 17th
  • Bobby Hadzor of Duke University with The Gospel According to Hip Hop on Nov. 24th

If you’re in your 20s or 30s and are looking for good times and good conversation, The Gospel on Tap series is for you. We hope to see you at all of the upcoming 20/30 W. Market St. events.

FAQs

What type of format does The Gospel on Tap follow?

The Gospel on Tap is a casual gathering with a presentation on a different topic each week. People are encouraged to arrive around 6:30, grab something to drink or even a bite to eat, and be ready for a presentation starting at 7:00. The presentation will be about 45 minutes and will be followed by a short break and a Q&A period. It will conclude no later than 8:30.

Is this a worship service?

No. The Gospel on Tap is not intended to be a church service, but a casual gathering with a presentation and good conversation. We’ll leave prayers, sermons, and hymns for Sunday morning.

Why are we doing this in a bar?

We are holding The Gospel on Tap series at Natty Greene’s because it is an informal place where people gather. The Loft Space at Natty’s provides The Gospel on Tap with the perfect venue downtown.

Does is cost money to attend The Gospel on Tap?

No. If one orders a meal, a pint, or a Coke, that’s up to them. The event is free.

How often do these happen?

The Gospel on Tap will take place four times a year. Each time, we will meet once a week for four weeks, and each series will have a different theme. For instance, this first series is “The Gospel and Pop Music”, the second will be “The Seven Deadly Sins”. We plan to have series in November, February, May, and September.
